From the speaker: I have dedicated my career to caring for women at risk for or with a cancer diagnosis. As Head of General Gynecology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Camcer Center and later as Director of Women's Cancer Survivorship at NYU Langone and the University of Chicago, I helped develop programs to meet the specific needs of women at risk for or with a cancer diagnosis. As a general gynecologist, my role in their care as a women’s health specialist was to manage their gyn issues anc address their specific needs as cancer patients. This included managing menopause, discussing fertility preservation options, reviewing need for genetic counseling and testing and discussing cancer prevention options. The goal was to maximize quality of life and prepare for life after cancer. My motto has been "there is a difference between living and surviving". As a life long learner, I also became a North American Menopause Socuety (now Menopause Society) menopause practitioner (NCMP) and a Genetic Cancer Risk Assessment Specialist (GCRA). I am also on the Menopause Society Education Committee and on the American Society of Clinical Oncology Survivorship Task Force. Both serve particular needs to move menopause management forward or to ensure cancer survivor needs are met. My experiences, both personal and professional, helped me identify a need in the ever-evolving and complex oncology landscape-navigating the cancer journey. A cancer diagnosis is overwhelming for the patient, family and loved ones. There is a whirlwind of activity at the time of diagnosis with patients flooded with tests, statistics, treatment plans and new vocabulary. In response to this need, I started The Cancer Care Concierge (CCC) providing patients with an advocate, advisor, shoulder to cry on, and guide through their cancer journey. CCC functions as the "family member" in the room that is also well versed in cancer care. website: thecancercareconcierge.com
