Michael Foti, DO, panel moderator, is an internist, clinical assistant professor of internal medicine, standardized patient program coordinator, and passionate mental health advocate. His talks detail his personal experiences and patient stories as an Intern when COVID-19 first arrived in the US in 2020, the loss of his mother during that time, and his later struggles with anxiety and depression once becoming an Attending. Dr. Foti speaks about the development of his anxiety/depression, how it manifested, and how he eventually sought the help he so desperately needed. This has led to speaking engagements on several platforms both regionally and nationally, most notably alongside our US Surgeon General at the invitation of the National Academy of Medicine. Additionally, Dr. Foti has several leadership positions both regionally and nationally. He is a member of the National Faculty of the NBOME, a member of the Board of Directors of the NYS Osteopathic Medical Society, and Vice President of the National Alliance on Mental Illness in Orange County, NY.
Warren Chin, DO has over the past four decades modified and improved vector-based OMT techniques that use way less force and are easier to implement in busy office practices. He teaches many osteopathic medical students, and they become competent in OMM in a short amount of time. His mentor growing up was Dr. Stanley Schiowitz. Schooling included NYCOM (class of 1984), a family practice residency at SUNY Stony Brook, and he was the chief resident who started the osteopathic family practice residency at Long Beach hospital on Long Island. He then worked in Florida for 20 years and then finally moved to New Hampshire (which by the way, is much colder). He is a clinical instructor for NYCOM, UNECOM, LECOM Bradenton, and LECOM Elmira.
Gerard A. Baltazar DO FACOS FACS is a Trauma and Acute Care Surgeon and an assistant professor of surgery for NYU Langone Health. He attended Georgetown University where he received the Howard Hughes Medical Research, the John Carroll emerging leader scholarships and a bachelor’s degree in biology and fine art. He obtained an osteopathic medicine degree from Touro University in California where he received awards for Community Service and Student Life. After completing surgical residency at Wyckoff Heights Medical Center of Weill Cornell Medical College in New York City, Dr. Baltazar finished a trauma and surgical critical care fellowship at Rutgers University in Newark, New Jersey. He served as the Director of Surgical Critical Care with a focus on critically underserved Bronx communities before matriculating to NYU Langone Hospital – Long Island in 2019.
