Dr Jo Watkins is a portfolio GP, adventure-loving mum of four, and co-founder of The HOW People, an organization founded during the COVID-19 pandemic. The HOW People initially hosted a thriving online community for teen girls during lockdown and has since expanded to deliver courses on self-esteem, confidence, and social media to primary school Year 6 students. The organization also partners with The Prince's Trust to bring these courses to secondary schools across Wales.

Jo has been described as a “human catalyst” for healthcare professionals, helping them build and scale their businesses or develop a personal brand alongside their medical careers. Through 1:1 coaching, mentoring, a signature group programme, and a supportive digital community, Jo empowers medics to take confident steps forward in areas such as branding, website development, social media, and PR.

Jo has worked with over 50 healthcare professionals—from GPs and nurses to hospital specialists and occupational therapists—guiding them to launch their businesses or personal brands. Seeing others bring their ideas to life is what truly drives Jo. She also hosts The Start Up Support Surgery Podcast, where she interviews medics who are case studies from her programme and chats with experts on topics ranging from digital marketing to LinkedIn growth strategies.

When she's not mentoring or supporting healthcare professionals, Jo is an avid traveller who loves eggs and can’t resist any cheesy music with a key change. The Watkins family live and work in South Wales but have created a flexible lifestyle that allows them to spend three months each year in their favourite corner of the world—British Columbia, Canada.
