Lecture Details

Sexual function is one of the most important aspects to overall well-being and happiness. Unfortunately, physiologic, mental and social changes that occur during perimenopause and menopause can lead to sexual dysfunction with distress. This lecture aims to discuss the numerous changes that happen at midlife that contribute to declines in sexual health. It will then discuss evidence-based treatments to restore sexual function.

The target audience is any physician who takes care of women at midlife, or women at midlife themselves.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Understand the most common symptoms of perimenopause and menopause that contribute to sexual dysfunction.
  2. Discuss common domains of sexual dysfunction including hypoactive sexual desire disorder, genitourinary syndrome of menopause, orgasm and arousal disorders.
  3. Identify potential evidence based treatments to restore sexual well-being.
