As a fundraising consultant to nonprofits, I specialize in visionary thinking, strategic planning, board governance, and campaign organization. None of these initiatives can happen without the skills to competently and effectively relate to others. Investing in relationships pays enormous dividends in deepening understanding, enhancing communications, and building trust.
That expertise almost never comes with the territory. It is not taught in medical school and not necessarily acquired on the job. “Good bedside manner” is a valued quality in a clinician, but how is it learned?
As a breast cancer survivor, I have experienced the good, the bad, and the ugly of experiences in the clinic, exam room, surgical suite, lab, and waiting rooms. For all my fellow patients — whether in crisis or not — my hope is to influence medical professionals to think like patients.
My target audience is physicians and all who support their work. The lessons I impart are how to implement Connection with Direction. Through storytelling and example setting, I teach what it means to be an intentional connector. The benefits are exponential.
